KINNETTLES KIRKYARD, ANGUS, SCOTLAND

In previous years the gravestones that had at one time been grave-markers at Kinnettles Kirkyard in the usual manner were removed to lean against the east wall of the yard - some were table stones.  The Memorial Inscriptions were recorded for the Scottish Genealogical Society and some in much more detail by Flora & John Davidson in 1977.
In time, the wall became unsound, and being a boundary it was decided by Angus Council in 1992 to remove the stones yet again and place them against a specially constructed strong metal frame.  Unfortunately, for reasons known to the contractor, the stones were not placed in the proper order as shown on the Angus Council plan, but rather mixed-up.
The stones are even more difficult to read these days and I have decided to try to identify the stones in the list below, but only minimal, and possibly inaccurate, information is given.  Obviously, any researcher would be advised to check this information by site visit, if possible, as the transcription of an M.I. from and old stone is open to interpretation.  The numbers before each entry refer to those given in the SGS book.  (Four entries are hyperlinks.)
The SKIRLING and STIRLING stones are numbered 1 - 3 are of particular interest of the webmaster, also the Talbert/Lyon stone, and can be seen in greater detail on myother Kinnettles Kirkyard pages.
