The former Woodhill Inn,
Dundee to Arbroath Road, Monikie, Scotland

This photograph dates from just before the turn of the 19th century and shows the Woodhill Inn, better known in the past by locals as the Half-way House.  It is believed that the inn was opened during the latter part of the 18th century when the present main road between Arbroath and Dundee (A92) was built to replace the previous route a few hundred yards to the north.  A coaching inn, it was situated on the northern side of the road, at Carlungie turn-off.  Some of the single storey cottages remain on the site and are still in use.
