You can get a copy in, JPEG format, of each page. On many pages are 'thumbnail portraits' of several servicemen, or group shots. These pages have been scanned at high resolution. You can copy the complete page, then CROP the image of your chosen individual using your image application. From there, the resulting file can be printed to at least 7" x 5" in most cases giving a presentable quality family portrait. You can also add the relevant text to the photo.Please ask the Webmaster should you need further advice. |
Hello, Thank you for your e-mail. Driver 76745 James Hagan, 38th Battery Royal Field Artillery killed in action 20-09-1901 at Quaggafontein. Quaggafontein is a farm in the Orange Free State 23km south-east of Zastron. A camp here was overrun by a commando led by Chief-Commandant PH Kritzinger. Fourty-eight British soldiers were killed, mostly of Lovett's Scouts. The 38th Battery lost 7 killed and 5 wounded. You may be able to get a photograph of his grave by writing to jean.beater @ nationalmonuments.co.za He (your ancestor) is listed on the Royal Artillery Memorial in Hyde Park, London. I can supply you two photographs of this memorial; a general shot of the whole memorial and photo showing his name. Each print costs £2.00 plus postage, airmail to the USA is approximately £1.50.
